About Geneva Editorial & Consulting
Why Geneva Editorial & Consulting when my name isn’t Geneva? Geneva was my mother’s name. It is because of her, I have found my place as an editor and writer. You see, I didn’t read much when I was a child. Reading took work for me at the time and I was a slow reader. It was my mother who walked into my room when I was around fourteen and gave me Killashandra by Anne McCaffrey. “Just try it,” is what she said. So I did. And I was hooked.
I discovered that reading wasn’t so bad when you found the kind of book that works for you. For me, that was fiction. Science fiction to be precise. Many other genres have graced my mind through my eyes – fantasy, paranormal, romance, mystery, crime novels, and more. Reading set me up well for discovering that I’m not too bad of a writer. There is nothing like taking the imagination ignited within you and putting the pieces together into a written work.
I put a great deal of love into my work because I love what I do. Every project is important to me. To watch the creation of any work go from concept to publication is a beautiful experience. It is an honor to be part of the process as an author and an editor.
And it all came to be because my mom placed a book in my hands and told me, in an exasperated tone, “Just try it.”
Keani Gifford
Editor/Author
I am a mother of three children, one dog, and three cats…though the 17 year old cat thinks of me more as staff. My writing mostly consists of science fiction and work as an editor and an author. I have a Master’s in Creative Writing through Southern New Hampshire University. My professional experience spans 20+ years of in diverse fields such as recruitment advertising, commercial property management, and health insurance administration. I am an active member of the Pacific Northwest Writers’ Association (PNWA) and American Night Writers’ Association (ANWA). Writing is something I placed on hold for many years. It took the healing process following my husband’s death to help me see what I truly wanted to do with my life – to follow my passion of reading and writing. My hobbies include spending time with my loveable monsters, cross-stitching and practicing pyrography (wood-burning designs).
Now for an important question: If you are about to be attacked, which opponent would you rather face – Dolls or Zombies?
For those who know me well know I hate dolls, but I would much rather face zombies. I even got my son a Zombie Defense Solutions 3-day survival kit (It specifically states on the packaging “for use in the event of a zombie apocalypse”).
