Typesetting is the process of formatting a manuscript into a polished book ready for printing. Many factors are considered when typesetting a novel including fonts, images, margins, and bleeds. Each distributor has different technical requirements. Using Adobe InDesign, we create both print and ebook files consistent with your genre and brand. Good typesetting reflects the genre and sets the mood for a book.
How much does typesetting cost?
The cost of typesetting varies greatly depending on your needs. Manuscripts heavy with images, for example, will cost more than one with straight text. The base price will be determined at a rate of $20/hour. A 75,000 word book with no special formatting (i.e. recipes) usually takes approximately 7-8 hours of time. Discounts are available when formatting books within a series.
